AHRQ Hospital Survey on Patient Safety Culture
HHS' Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) announced a new tool to help hospitals and health systems evaluate employee attitudes about patient safety in their facilities or within specific units. The Hospital Survey on Patient Safety Culture, being released in partnership with Premier, Inc., the Department of Defense, and the American Hospital Association, addresses a critical aspect of patient safety improvement: measuring organizational conditions that can lead to adverse events and patient harm.
Hospital Leadership and Quality Assessment Tool© (HLQAT)
The Hospital Leadership and Quality Assessment Tool© (HLQAT) is designed to assess the perceptions of hospital board members and leaders about important areas of clinical quality improvement in their hospitals. The survey was developed by the University of Iowa Department of Health Management and Policy, Health Services Advisory Group, Premier/Care Science and the Oklahoma Foundation for Medical Quality, with input from Westat. Earlier versions of the survey were pretested with participants representing various levels of hospital leadership. This phase of testing is designed to test the validity of the question content as well as determine how question items are associated with high performance on various quality and safety indicators.
