Nursing Home

What is the Nursing Home Quality Initiative (NHQI)?

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services publicly reports quality measures for every Medicare and Medicaid certified nursing home. The quality measures for each nursing home are reported on NURSING HOME COMPARE at Medicare's Web site.

In each state, the Quality Improvement Organization (QIO) will help consumers understand and use the measures as a tool for assessing nursing home facilities. They will also assist providers in improving their care as it relates to these specific measures. GMCF is the QIO for Georgia.

Advancing Excellence in America's Nursing Homes is a 2-year, coalition-based campaign to promote excellence in caregiving for nursing home residents. Click here for details.
